Grrr...
DeGeneres under fire for giving away dogOkay, let's play along at home. Rescue animals are pets that have been abused, neglected or abandoned...that's how they got in the rescue system in the first place. When you go to adopt a pet from a rescue shelter, you sign agreements that state, in part, that you're going to take care of the animal and be responsible for what happens to it. If you can't take care of the animal, you return it to the rescue group. They will find another home for it.
You don't
give the animal away to someone else. You're dealing with an animal that's already had at least one major life change...it doesn't need another one. Rescue groups are experienced in dealing with animals that have placement issues...you're not.
Having a crying fit on national television because you didn't read the contract (the woman is an entertainer...she knows about reviewing contracts) and the rescue agency recovered the animal just makes you look stupid. There's nothing that says that the dog can't be returned to its new home, but that home is going to be screened and approved before it happens.
What a chowderhead.
